Product Lead Base Emergency Communications System (PL BECS) — formerly known as Project Lead Land Mobile Radio (LMR) — supports Soldier readiness by providing pre-deployment, non-tactical base emergency communications worldwide. With a global presence, PL BECS is the single integrated acquisition program for the design, procurement, fielding, new equipment training and life-cycle management of emergency management / critical communications capabilities in support of installation public safety organizations and functions, including first responder, force protection and other installation management activities worldwide. This effort encompasses capabilities that deliver Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD), Next Generation 911 (NG 911), Land Mobile Radio (LMR), Enterprise Mass Warning and Notification (EMWN) and the First Responder Broadband Network - LTE-5G (FRBN). The program’s primary focus, in addition to the Warfighter, is support of first responders and Army installation missions. PL BECS provides turnkey solutions to deploy critical communications that meet DoD, Army and federal mandates, while supporting Garrison support operations.

 

PL BECS is part of the Integrated Enterprise Network (IEN) — formerly known as Defense Communications and Army Transmission Systems (DCATS) — portfolio of programs. With an annual budget authority of more than $550 million, IEN enables information dominance for the Army, DOD, National Command Authority and international partners by acquiring, implementing and sustaining strategic satellite and terrestrial communication systems, and by innovating technologies to meet current and future requirements.
